Sarah was born in Sumter County, South Carolina in March of 1840.[1] Her father died when she was 7, and her mother died when she was 15. She most likely married William Buford Richardson from Sumter County, (1835-1869); their probable children included:[2]
Emily Sophia Richardson (1861-1933) (born at Scottsboro, Baldwin County, Georgia)
William Buford Richardson (1863-1945)
Sarah Dargan (Richardson) Norment (1865-1869)
Charles Hyatt Richardson (1867-1943)
James Milton Richardson (1869-1941)
Her husband died in 1869, when Sarah was just 29, and she stayed on the farm in District 115, Baldwin County, Georgia.[3][4]
Research Notes
In his will of 1847, John M Dargan wished his plantation and slaves to be get intact for the support of his wife Emily E and those children left at home. After Emily's death the estate to be sold and divided between his children:[5]
