Biography
Charlotte Amelia Darling was born on 14th November 1831, at sea as her family were sailing home from New South Wales to England. She was the daughter of General Sir Ralph Darling and his wife Elizabeth Dumaresq. Her father had just completed his term as governor of the Colony of New South Wales. Charlotte was christened on 22nd December 1831 as they broke their voyage at Macau.[1]
She married Francis Colville-Hyde on 19th June 1850 in the Parish Church, Brighton, Sussex, England. They had nine children.
Charlotte passed away, aged 80 years, in 1912 at Branksome Park, Dorset, England. She was buried on 22nd April 1912.[2]
