Biography

Denis Davern was born in 1809 in Patrickswell, Knockainy, Limerick, Ireland, son of Thomas Davern (~1780–>1830) and Catherine Grace (~1780– ).^[1]

Denis (23) married Lilias Hewson Lunham (16) (born in 1816 in Limerick; daughter of William Shapland T. Lunham and Anne (Deane) Lunham) in 1833 in Limerick. He gave his faith as being CoI.... although he was actually a Roman Catholic. His bride's family was also CoI. Lilias was 17 at the time of marriage and the marriage was opposed of by her parents, however, they possibly only agreed because Lilias was pregnant and the groom agreed to convert. The conversion wasn't taken very seriously as Denis' and Lilias' first child, Mary Ann ( born 7 months later), was Christened a Roman Catholic. Their children were:
