Biography

Elizabeth Davidson was born in Birse about 1801. She married James Ritchie on 23 Dec 1825 in Birse^[1]. In the 1851 census, James, age 53, a Sawmiller employing two men, was living at Sawmill, Kincardine O'Neil with his wife Elizabeth, age 50, and their daughter Elizabeth Noble and her husband John and their 3 month old son James, their daughter Mary Ritchie and two servants Ann McDonald and James Adams. In the 1861 census, James and Elizabeth, age 59, are at Bridge End in Coull with their 18 year old daughter Mary and 3 year old grandson Jonathan Ritchie. Also there are two servants John McDonald and Elizabeth Copland. James is a 64 year old Farmer with 30 acres. In the 1871 census 75 year old James, a Retired Sawmiller and his wife Elizabeth, age 70, are living with their daughter Elizabeth Ritchie and her husband William Donald at Midmar Cottage in Midmar.
