• JENNIE LOVE DAVIS was born in Millersburg, Mo. This being the time of the civil war, the family home was burned when she was three years old, she being rescued by her grandfather.
• When eight years old she moved with her parents to Fort Worth Texas.
• On Sept 25, 1887 she married Henry W. RACE, and to this union four children were born.
• In 1888 they came to Washington, stopping first in Ellensburg where a team of horses was purchased, then coming across the mountains to Douglas county, and in December of that year they settled on a homestead seven miles east of Douglas where they have since resided.
• Sixteen years ago she first noticed a slight paralysis, which gradually grew worse, and twelve years ago she became an invalid. In January she developed a blood disorder and kidney trouble and that, together with grief over the loss of her mother, Mrs. J. C. Davis hastened her death. The funeral was conducted from the family home by Rev. Boppell.
