Biography

This profile is part of the Davis Name Study.

Robert was the child of William Davis and Elizabeth Truitt. His father left him a bequest in his will, which was signed in 1752 and proved 1754.

Note

Note: Robert owned land near Whiton, Md., on what is now the Wor.-Wic. Co. line. In 1737 he patented 100 ac. in Coulbournes Dt., map 32, Land Records of Worcester Co. 1666-1810 by Dryden called Davis Choice. In 1756 he resurveyed to Thribble Purchase 281 acres. The Davis Cemetary was probably started by him on this property. Several of his descendants were buried here up to the early 1900's. This cemetary is in woods, 1/2 mi. West of Snow Hill- Powellville Rd. about 1 mi. South of Whiton. Turn on dirt road in first woods after Whiton.

to son Phillip - my main plantation as described
to son Joshua - remainder of DAVISES CHOICE eastward from the Joneses home;
tract called FOXES DEN with 10 acres
to grandson Hezekiah Davis - 50 acres land
to grandson Robert Kelley - 50 acres called POOR RIDGE
to son Turner - remainder of THREEBLE PURCHASE and part of DAVISES CHOICE
with 5 acres. Should he die without issue, then to grandson Charles Kelley
to daughter Betty - funiture, livestock
to wife Sarah - use of remainder of estate during her lifetime or widowhood
to children Joshua, Samuel, Hezekiah, William Turner, Molley, Phillip,
Turner, Sarah, and Betty - remainder of estate after wife's death
Executor: Phillip Davis
Witnesses: Schoolfield Parker, William Davis, William Jones
