John Henry Davis was born on October 17, 1847 in Henry, Missouri, United States, son of James Davis (~1803–>1850) and Sarah Sally Beaty (1808–1882).[1]

John (23) married Nancy Susannah Blanton (15) (born on December 26, 1855, in Collin, Texas; daughter of Charles Wesley Blanton and Zilpha Blanton) on October 10, 1871, in Collin, Texas.

He and Nancy had seven children:

  1. Virdie R. (Davis) Evans (1874–1943) married to John William Evans (1870–1943)
  2. Dovie Ann (Davis) Streib (1877–1918) married to Heinrich Streib (1857–1940)
  3. Robert Franklin Davis (1880-1960)
  4. Mary Alice Davis (1883–1896)
  5. John Noble Davis (1890–1965) married to Nora Lucinda Ford (1887–1942)
  6. Charles Blanton Davis (1893–1918)
  7. Zylpha Davis (1896–1896)
