Biography

John P. Davis was born 1878.

A record of his interment in Los Angeles has not been located, and may be incorrect. John P. Davis is described as the husband of Hattie Mae Davis in some records, but this is incorrect. They are siblings. (Hattie Mae died age 25, apparently did not marry.)

John is said by William Church Davis to be living in Los Angeles in 1926, not married. However, a 1932 Marriage Certificate has been located. See sources below. He married on 24 Nov 1932 at Maywood, CA to Kathryn Nadine (Powell) Land, b.abt. 1896. She was widowed at the time, and was the daughter of Edward Thomas Powell (Virginia) and Mae W. Gordon, Ohio. She was a native of Ohio.

At the time of marriage, John Davis was 52 years old; Kathryn was 36. They are both living at San Gabriel Judicial Township, Los Angeles, in the 1940 Census. (ages 60, 44).
