Biography

William "Bill" Walter Davis was born 31 July 1898 in Thackeray, Hamilton Co., Illinois. His father was James William Davis (1878-1957) and his mother was Jeanette "Nettie" Jane Hinkle (1880-1968). Bill was Born in Illinois and by 1910 living in Johson, Gibson, Indiana. Sometime between 1910 and 1920 he and his nuclear family (parents and siblings except Geneva) moved to Greenacres, Spokane, Washington. Bill's sibling were: Geneva Davis, Lenna/Tenna Ruby Davis, Olevia/Olivia Lilly Davis, and Martha Emily Davis.

United States World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 provides the following information. Bill white, male, age 20, employed as a Laborer in Spokane, nearest relative James WIlliam Davis, medium build, color of eyes Grey, color of hair light.

United States Census, 1920 Event Place Greenacres Township, Spokane, Washington, census date January 22 and 23 of 1920, provides the following information: Bill in the home with parents and siblings. Occupation Laborer for Rail Road Section. His father James W. Davis, also works as a Foreman for the Rail Road.

He married Florence "Flora" "Flo" in Coeur d' Alene, Kootenai, Idaho. Alterations of date of marriage, 10 June 1920, 1 June 1921, 6 July 1921, They had no children.

United States Census 1930 Bill and Flora own their own home and Bill is working as a auto mechanic. Census 1940 living in the same house and it looks like Bill is working for the Rail Road.

He passed away 12 June 1997. age 98, in Hillsboro, Washington County, Oregon. Bill is buried next to Flora at Pines Cemetery, Spokane, Washington. The engraving on the head stone is beautiful and it reads "We lived together in happiness. We rest together in Peace".
