Biography

Frank was born in 1933. Frank married Alma Kay Howard and adopted her three children - Billy, David, and Robin. Their biological father is Billy Z. Riddle. Frank served in Korea in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a service station attendant and manager and law enforcement officer in Elkhart, Ulysses, Satanta, Sublette, and Dighton, Kansas. Frank died of a heart attack on 25 Nov 2007.

Obituary

He was born Aug. 8, 1933, in Lamont, Okla., to Frank George and Harriet Lucretia Clark Day. When he was 9, the family moved to the Elkhart area. He graduated from Yarbrough (Oklahoma) High school in 1952, joined the army for 2 years, then attended Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma.

On Oct. 14, 1966, he married Kay Howard in Guymon, Okla. After his marriage, he became interested in law enforcement and attended the police academy. He was on the police force of several western Kansas communities, including Elkhart, Ulysses and Satanta. In 1984, he moved to Dighton and served as part of the police department there until his retirement in 1998.

Mr. Day was a member of Barney Masonic Lodge and the Lions Club, both in Dighton. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and going to rodeos and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In his youth, he enjoyed playing the guitar.

In addition to his wife, other survivors include two sons, Billy Day of Ashland, and David Day of Wichita; a daughter, Robin Day of Dighton; a sister, Mary Ella Hill of Grand Prairie, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and David Day; and a sister, Della Cleous.

Funeral was at First Baptist Church, Dighton, officiated by Danny Parker, pastor. Burial was in Dighton Memorial Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by Barney Masonic Lodge of Dighton.
