Biography

Thomas Day was born on his parent's farm near Bashi, AL, in 1862. In 1879 he wed Lucy Ann Fountain and by the census 6 months later, they were living on their own farm. Between 1880 and 1885, he and his brother-in-law Carlos Seth Fountain acquired a 362.5 acre farm in Causeyville, Lauderdale County, MS, where both moved their growing families. In 1893 he moved his family by wagons to Bosque County, TX, where he acquired a farm near Kopperl. Here he remained until dying in 1932. He was buried in Kopperl, Bosque County, TX.

Thomas at various times was a farmer, stockman, carpenter, bookkeeper and teller (as told by his grandson Jesse Uel Day, Jr). He was small of stature and had reddish-brown hair and dark eyes (as told by his daughter Caldonia Day Greer).
