In 1893 he moved his family by wagons to Bosque County, TX, where he acquired a farm near Kopperl. Here he remained until dying in 1932. He was buried in Kopperl, Bosque County, TX.
Thomas at various times was a farmer, stockman, carpenter, bookkeeper and teller (as told by his grandson Jesse Uel Day, Jr). He was small of stature and had reddish-brown hair and dark eyes (as told by his daughter Caldonia Day Greer).
