Research Notes
Almost certainly Robert Joseph Deeker (Decker - 4533). Christened as Robert and if Robert Deeker (Deeker - 13) is the correct father, then adoption of g'father's name (Joseph) makes a strong case for this line. Resolution of differences with parentage for Decker - 4533 make this a hopefully, temporary alternative. Close examination of 1813 christening shows that it is Deeker.

Decker-4533 and Deeker-14 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth and death details. Suggest the parents of Decker-4533 be removed as per the comments on Decker-4606. Please get back to me if you would like to discuss. Thank, Gillian
Deeker-14 and Decker-4533 are the same person. I created Deeker-14 to try and overcome the Decker spelling. I couldn't get any response from Sarah on this issue some time back, so went ahead with this line. The children Sarah has are correct, with the exception of the spelling issue, and a couple of other minor issues there. (Have been researching this family for some years and I feel the earlier info is correct, since I have DNA matches through a Deeker descendant linked 5 generations back.) Would like to see this merger go through, as well as elimination of Decker from any of the children's names.
Sandringham - used to go to the beach there years ago - walk from the station or park on the road and walk through the ti tree to an uncle's bathing box. They went years ago after vandalism and robbery led to their neglect and council wanted their removal. What would they be worth now?
Best wishes,
Garry Clough
Standardization to birth names of all this family would be helpful. The children were all born as Deeker (as was Robt Jos and further back), newspaper, marriage and birth notices in Sth Africa are all Deeker. The passenger list on the "Blackheath" can't be accepted as official spelling - signatures of several family members in the 1850s/1860s in Brunswick are clearly Deeker, despite the spellings by officials in those documents (Elizabeth's inquest and Overton Clough's inquest at least, also marriage certs). Sarah Rebecca was Deeker for abt 17 years, Gee for abt 7 then Benson for abt 17.
