Biography

Frank was born in abt 1892. He is the son of Henry Walter Deeley and his wife Anna Maria [1] Frank, aged 9 appears on the 1901 census for 51 Cuckoo Road Aston with his parents and siblings.[2] In 1911, he was still at the same address and working as a porter. [3]

In the second quarter of 1913, he married Mabel Reeves in Aston [4] Frank served in the Royal Warwickshire regiment during the first World War. It isn't possible to say exactly when he joined up, or if he was conscripted as his medal card is incomplete and his service record missing. He was awarded the War medal and the Victory medal so was not serving in 1914. He was a member first of the 2nd Battalion and then the 2/6 Battalion. His war service would have been on the Western Front. [5] Frank survived the war and he is found on the Birmingham electoral register for 1918 with a qualifying address of 11 Railway Terrace in 1925 This was probably the first election that Frank was able to vote in and is a police list, a compilation of servicemen from the area with the addresses that made them eligible to vote in that constituency. ( looking at the register for that area, one of close packed terraces and back to back housing brought it home to me the numbers of men that had been fighting There is name after name, one or more at almost every house, and hardly one with a rank above private or equivalent ) [6] Frank was still at 11 Railway Terrace in 1925 [7]

(still to complete)
