Biography

The daughter of Mark Dees and Rebecca (Brooks) Dees, Bettie Dees was born in Tippah County, Mississippi in 1869.[citation needed] She lived there with her family.[1] In 1880, her family lived in Jonesborough, Mississippi.[2] Bettie Dees married James Stewart (1872-1957), marrying in Tippah County in 1897.[citation needed] Their children included:

  1. Alabama "Bama" (Stewart) Nail (1891-1981)
  2. Ethel (Stewart) Riley (1901-1981)

They made their home in DeSoto County, Mississippi.[3][4] She passed away there around the age of 85[citation needed] and is buried at Oak Grove Church Cemetery in Hernando, Mississippi.[5]
