Biography

Dennis Lee Dees was born on 21 December 1903 in Cumberland County, North Carolina, United States.^[1] He was the son of James Franklin Dees (1874 - 1916) and Maggie Floyd (Baxley) Dees (1873 - 1953).^[2]

Dennis Dees and Chloe Darden were married on 22 May 1932 in Cumberland County, North Carolina.^[3]At the time of his death he was still married to Chloe.^[2][4] No records were found which indicated they were the parents of any children.

At the time of his death he was working as a motor court (motel) operator. He operated the first motor court in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It was located on Raeford Road and called "Dee's Motor Court." He and his wife went on to own and operate other motor courts in the area, such as Colonial Motor Court and Highland Motor Court.^[2][4]

He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and the Cumberland County Farm Bureau.^[4]

Dennis Lee Dees died on 12 September 1963 at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina at the age of 59. Cause of death was acute myocardial infarction. He was buried in Lafayette Memorial Park, Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina.^[5][2][4][6]
