Mary's date of birth is an estimate based on her marriage date and the birth dates of her husband and children.
Research Note
There is an unsourced note which reports her death in New Brunswick in 1832. This is probably based on the fact that a Jacob Russell married a Lucy Nox on 11 Feb 1832 in Fredericton.[1] This might be the same Jacob Russell but it is not certain. In the 1832 Russell/Nox marriage, both parties declared that their residence was Hodgetown Plantation in Maine. In the 1830 US Federal Census there are two Jacob Russell's in the border region of Houlton, Maine that adjoins the Fredericton area. One of them is undoubtedly Jacob Mitchell Russell,[2] born in Maine and unrelated to this family. He settled in the Houlton area around this time. The other could be this Jacob as both census records record one male born in the 1790's. One record, for a family in Township 10 near Houlton seems to fit this Jacob. Husband is born in 1790's and wife after 1800 with one son under five. This could be them if John Willis died early on and Mary Elizabeth was still living in 1830.[3] But the other census record, although transcribed as Houlton, is clearly marked on the original as being the Hodgetown Plantation. This Jacob is unmarried (widowed?) but with two daughters under fifteen, which does not suggest a fit with this family.[4]
