Note N0510 Walter enlisted in the National Guard in West Bend and served from 1940-45. There he played trombone with the Red Arrow32nd Division in the 128th Infantry Band. The 32nd Division was called up in 1940 and fought in New Guinea, Leyte Gulf and Luzon. After his service Walter made his living in several different retail stores in West Bend before owning and operating Butch's Sport Shop from 1962-1981. He was an assistant manager at Campbell's Department Store, which would become Carroll House. After retiring he worked part time for Zuern Lumber in Allenton, Wisconsin. Wally was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. He loved fishing and woodworking. He attended Red Arrow Division reunions and was a member of the Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post #36 in West Bend. He was a lifetime member of St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend.
