Biography

Son of Franz Leonard Degner and Esther Helena Augusta (Prochnow) Degner.

Siblings: older brother Arden Degner, younger sister Irel Degner Miller and younger brother Waldon Degner.

When in Chicago, IL he met and married the love of his life Joan J. Ruzas on July 18, 1959 and raised 4 children.

He graduated from Oshkosh High School, Class of 1947. Majored in Chemistry at Oshkosh State College transferring to the University of Wisconsin in Madison to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1951. Then in 1969 a Master's Degree in Engineering Management from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri and his teaching certificate. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in many States and some Foreign Countries. Corvin had the uncanny ability to calculate complex mathematical equations without the use of a calculator. Engineering Officer Lt.j.g. Corvin Degner served on the LST-1141 during the Korean War and as Cmdr. Corvin Degner in the reserve during Viet-Nam.

Working for the oil, gas and plastics industry supported his brilliance as an start -up innovator in numerous locations: Mandan, SD; Whiting, IN; New York, NY; Metuchen, NJ; Beaumont, TX; Bristol, England; Terre Haute, IN; Sidney Bonds, Australia; St. Louis, MO; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH; Medina, OH; South Bend, IN; Park Forest, IL. In his later years he worked as a Consultant, updating the plants he had helped build earlier. Retiring at 70 as a Contractor to renovate houses.

He loved to garden and often grew his own vegetables. His beneficent heritage beseemed membership in the German Heritage Society in Columbus, Texas, along with the Polka Lovers Klub of America in La Grange, Texas.^[1]
