Biography

Edgar Street Denison was born 13 August 1879. Son of Julia A. Denison, of 4, Rusholme Rd., Toronto, Ontario, and the late Lt. Col. Frederick Charles Denison, C.M.G., M.P.

From 1891 -1897 he was at Upper Canada College, where he gained his football colours.

He worked as a Imperial Bank of Canada[1] bank clerk in 1901.

When the war broke out he was engaged on a survey in Prince Rupert, but, eager to serve his country, he at once joined the 30th Battalion as a private, although holding an officer’s commission in the Governor General's Body Guard. He was sent overseas with a draft of reinforcements for the Princess Patricia’s, but, in order to reach France more speedily, transferred to the 16th Battalion. He rose to the rank of lance-corporal, was first wounded at St. Julien and killed later in action about the 22nd of April, 1915.[2] Edgar was killed in action and buried at Ypres.
