Biography

Arthur George Dennis was the son of James Edward Dennis Sr. and Harriet Hastings. His first marriage was to Blanche Drucilla McLean. They were married 4 Dec 1902.

After having three children - Arthur George Jr., Gladys and Malcolm - Arthur and Blanche would relocate to Vancouver, British Columbia. He would serve in WWI and during this time, his wife would have two extramarital affairs. The first, a boy, Gerald Edward 'Dennis' was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1917. Blanche would list Arthur as the father, but used his middle name - George Dennis. In 1918, she would have a daughter, Adeline Florence McKay, by Edward Lewis McKay, a single man 12 years younger. Gerald was put up for adoption but Blanche kept Adeline. When Arthur returned from the war, he discovered his wife's infidelities and divorced her.

Arthur would work as a fireman on a boat. He would work his way up on the boat to 2nd Engineer.

On 2 Jul 1931, in Vancouver, British Columbia, he would remarry to Eliza Jane (Gracey) Brown, a widow.
