Robert was born in 1931. He was the son of James Dent and Lottie Dennis. He passed away in 1996.

Robert Lee Dent, age 64 of Edina, Missouri, passed away at his home east of Edina, Tuesday evening, January 16, 1996.

The son of James Clyde and Lottie Mae Dennis Dent, he was born March 6, 1931 in Knox County, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Vesta Prosser, on April 16, 1952 at the Baptist Church at Edina, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Vesta of Edina; three children, Dale Wayne Dent of Newark, Missouri, Steven Lee Dent of Avalon, Missouri and Kathy Lynn Burkhardt of Edina, Missouri; three sisters, Juanita Nall of Camp Point, Illinois, Eva M. McCarty of Hurdland, Missouri and Mary F. Regenos of Lake Ozark, Missouri; four brothers, Ernest H. Dent of Kirksville, Missouri, Clyde W. Dent of San Antonio, Texas, James Richard Dent of Blue Springs, Missouri and Donald Dent of Jefferson City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Travis Burkhardt, Justin Burkhardt, Alicia Burkhardt, Bryce Dent, Bryanna Dent, Nakita Dent and Holly Dent and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Lester Alan Dent.

Mr. Dent lived most of his life in Knox County, Missouri.

He served with the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean Conflict, from February 1952 to January 1954. He had been stationed at El Toro, California and Japan.

He engaged in farming northwest of Newark, Missouri for a number of years. He graduated from the Iowa Auctioneer School; following his graduation he auctioneer [sic] in Northeast Missouri. In the late 1908's he operated the Dent Auction House at Edina, Missouri.

Mr. Dent was a member of the Bee Ridge United Methodist Church and had served as Lay Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Chairman of the Board. He also served on the Knox County R-I School Board for several years.

Also served on the PCS Board and the SCS Board. He was a member of the Knox City American Legion Post #358, Knox City, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 1996 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel at Edina, Missouri, with Reverend Thomas Sullenger officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. & Mrs. Robert Poore, selections are "Beyond The Sunset" and "In The Garden." Burial will be in the Bee Ridge Cemetery, southeast of Edina, Missouri, with Military graveside services by the Knox City American Legion Post #358. Casket bearers will be Byron Fowler, Dave Mackey, Merle Klocke, Chuck Reeves, Kenneth Klocke, Bob Jones and Jerry McMain. Honorary bearers will be James Wiseman, Irvin Johnston, Ernest Parrish, Tate McKenzie, George Baker and Harold Masten.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 1996 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel at Edina, Missouri, with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Homes Funeral Chapel Edina, Missouri.
