The Suffolk Chronicle; or Weekly General Advertiser & County Express. 21 February 1857

On the 25th Sept., at the Canterbury Settlement, New Zealand, aged 65, Mr. John Frederick Denton, late of Rushbrooke, in this county, for 29 years steward to the late Colonel Rushbrooke, to which estate the Denton family had faithfully paid rent for upwards of a century. Deceased was much respected by numerous friends and acquaintances in this his native country, and was one of the first agricultural emigrants to that distant colony in 1850.
