Biography
Eliza Jane (Deroin) Brannan was married to a man with the last name of Hallick before she married Michael. They homesteaded near what is now Tecumseh, Nebraska. Hallick had T. B. One child, Alfred E. Hallick, who was born on August 25, 1856. The baby lived less than a year. A Holiness preacher and his wife Mary Ann Taylor (one of her mother's sisters?) raised Eliza. She went by the name of Jane Taylor. There was never a church at St. DeRoin in those early years, but the 'Holiness' people used to have protracted meetings near the river where people shouted, danced and were slain in the spirit. She is buried at the Prairie Union Cemetery in Shubert, Nebraska. There is no tombstone for her, but it is assumed that she is buried next to Michael, as there is a blank space next to him
