Biography

Edward Wallace Detrick was born on 23 Sep 1902 in Caldwell, Sumner Co, Kansas^[1]. He was the son (and only child) of Charles Henry Detrick and Caroline Lydia "Carrie" Lassell. He used the nickname "Ted" for most of his life.

In the 1910 census Edward (age 7) was the son of Charles H Detrick in Caldwell Ward 1, Sumner, Kansas, United States.^[2]

In the 1920 census Edward (age 17) was the single son of Charlie Detrick in Caldwell, Sumner, Kansas, United States.^[3]

In the 1930 census Edward (age 27) was the single son of Charles H Detrick in Caldwell, Sumner, Kansas, United States.^[4]

Ted married Thelma Elizabeth (Ireland) Detrick (1904-2001) in Ottawa, Franklin Co, KS on 16 Aug 1931. They raised a son and a daughter, both deceased, in Ted's hometown, Caldwell KS. One or both of the children were adopted.

In the 1940 census Edward (age 37) was the married head of household in Caldwell Township, Sumner, Kansas, United States.^[5]

In the 1950 census Edward (age 47), Partner And Manager, was the married head of household in Caldwell, Sumner, Kansas, United States.^[6]

Although Ted and Thelma were still living in Caldwell KS at the time of his death in 1983, Ted passed away at the nearby Enid Memorial Hospital in Enid, OK.^[7] Ted is buried in the Caldwell City Cemetery in Caldwell KS.^[8]
