Biography
Went to Queensland to shear sheep. Worked mainly out of Longreach. Became involved in the shearer's strike in Barcaldine. Later to become a high ranking official in the Australian Workers Union. He was buried with his wife - Hannah - in Rockhampton Cemetery. They had six children, their son John Jnr became a high official in the Australian Engineering Union - John Jnr died of a heart attack in Brisbane or Ipswich.
