Biography

Louisa was born in 1836.

In 1850 she was living with her parents Stephen and Silence Devol in Ohio. [1]

She married William Boylston Shaw in 1857. [2]

In 1860 they were living in Ohio with first child named Cara/Carrie. [3]

In 1870 the three of them were still living in Ohio. [4]

In 1880 Louisa and William were living in Ohio with adult daughter Carrie and son Hiram. [5]

Son Frank married in 1891. [6]

Son Hiram passed in 1892. [7]

In 1900 Louise and William were living in Ohio. [8]

In 1910 she was a widow and living with her daughter Carrie and Carrie's husband Edmund Taylor. [9]

In 1920 she was a widower, 83 years old, and living in her married daughter Caro's home in Ohio. [10]

She passed away in 1922. [11]

Buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Washington, Ohio. [12]

Obituary mentions her parents Stephen and Silence (Hatch) Devol. It also mentions her husband William B Shaw. Includes her birth date and place (29 Dec 1836 in Waterford County). Her father was born in Rhode Island. Her mother was born in Connecticut. Her maternal grandfather was Nathan Hatch. Obituary has her marriage date of 15 Mar 1892 to William B Shaw. They had two children: Caro (now Mrs. E R Taylor) and Hiram (married Catherine Rathbone. Hiram and Catherine had one child named Caro Louise. [13] [14]

  • Downey-1809: Confusion about marriage date. Obituary [14] says 15 Mar 1892. This has to be wrong. Children born in 1859 and 1861. Marriage source [2] says 14 Sep 1857.
