Biography
I grew up in Santa Monica, CA through my elementary and junior high school years, and we moved to San Pedro, CA during my sophomore year in high school. After graduating in 1965, I attended L.A. Harbor College for two years, then transferred to San Francisco State to complete my Bachelors' Degree in Psychology, graduating in 1969. Faced with the high probability of being drafted into the Viet Nam War, I chose instead to enlist in the US Coast Guard and was accepted into Officer's Candidate School. In February 1970, I received my commission and my first assignment as Communications Officer aboard the USCGC Sebago, home-ported in Pensacola, FL.
