Biography

Peter was born in 1836 to Thomas Dickson and Elizabeth (Thomson) Dickson in the parish of Tranent, Haddingtonshire, Scotland. Peter's father died in a shipwreck while fishing in the FIrth of Forth in December 1839, leaving Peter's mother with six children under 14.

In the 1841 Scotland census, Peter (age 4) was in Cockenzie, Haddingtonshire, with his mother and siblings.[1]

In the 1851 Scotland census, Peter (age 14), Fisherman, was with his mother and siblings at Free Church Lane, Cockenzie, Tranent parish, East Lothian.[2]

Peter Dickson (age 26) Fisherman, married Marion (Mathieson) Dickson (age 22), Servant, on 11 November 1861 at the U.P. Church in Tranent, Haddingtonshire, Scotland. They both lived in Cockenzie.[3]

In the 1881 Scotland Census, Peter (age 44), Fisherman, was at home on Church Lane in Tranent with his wife Marion and their eight children. [4]

Peter (age 62) Fisherman, died at home (5 Echo Place, Cockenzie) on 21 September 1905. The cause was apoplexy. His son William was the informant on details for the death register.[5]
