Biography

Albert was born on 17 Sep 1917 in Blackburn, Lancashire. ^[1]

Albert attended Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn.

Employment opportunities were not good in Blackburn in the late 1930s, so on his 21st birthday, Albert moved south to Leamington Spa, which at the time was the home of a number of manufacturers of components for the car industry.

During the war, Albert served in the REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers).

On 11 Jul 1942, Albert married Elsie Miller at the Church of St James, Styvechale, Coventry.^[2]

The address given at his marriage was that of his parents, who by this time had moved from Blackburn to Coventry.

Following the war, Albert returned to live in Coventry, where is son Paul Dixon was born in 1946.

Albert worked as a buyer in the motor industry, working variously for Singer, Humber and Standard.

In 1961, with a desire to return to Lancashire, Albert took a position in Walkden, Lancashire and in April of that year, moved to live in Bolton, Lancashire.

In 1964, Albert went to work for Automotive Products in Bolton.

On 30 May 1966, his wife Elsie Miller passed away at the age of 49.

In early 1967, Albert was offered a more senior position within Automotive Products at their Banbury facility.

On the day before his 50th birthday, Albert remarried Ursula Berger.^[3]

Shortly after that, he completed his move to Banbury to take up his new position.

Albert retired in 1980.

His second wife, Ursula, passed away in 2006.^[4]

He passed away on 1 Jul 2012, age 94, in Banbury, Oxfordshire.^[5][6]
