Biography

Ellen Dixon was born to Thomas Dixon and [[Hathrill-1|Sophia (Hathrill) Dixon] around 1844 in Newbury, Berkshire She worked as a Willow Weaver, making baskets out of willow. This seems to have been a popular profession for young females in Wiltshire at this time as the 1851 Census shows several neighbouring women and girls to be Willow Weavers.
