Donald Edward Dixon was born on 12 Dec 1912 in Cincinnati, Ohio.^[1] He was the son of Edward Dixon and Florence Phelan.^[2][3]

Donald married Betty Jane Petrie on 2 May 1940 in Cadillac, Wexford County, Michigan.^[4] They had one daughter.^[2]

Donald served in the US Marine Corps in World War II. He enlisted in Jul 1942 and was a first lieutenant in the 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. He was killed in action in Guam on 21 Jul 1944.^[2][5] He was buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.^[5]
