Biography

Douglas LeRoy Djerf was born on April 19, 1922, in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. His father and mother were Erik Adolf Agnar Djerf (1898-1972) and Lillian Teresa (Peterson) Djerf (1894-1982).

At the age of twenty-three years he married Eleanor Lorraine (Anderson) Djerf (1922-2015) on July 3, 1945, in Solano County, California.^[1] There were four offspring from this union including:

1. Gregory LeRoy Djerf (1951-1994)^[2]

Doug was a Commander and a pilot in the United States Navy. He served in World War II and the Korean War.

His peacetime profession was as an electrician.^[3]

Douglas Djerf died at the age of eighty-three years on May 23, 2005, in Hennepin County, Minnesota.^[4] His earthly remains are buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.^[5]There is a touching inscription on the stone calling him, "The Airplane Driver."
