He married Emma Pegg (born in England).^[1]

John had lived in Pasadena, California for 16 years prior to his death.^[4]

He passed away on 24 Apr 1904^[1] in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California, United States^[4] and is burie in Mdountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum in Altadena, California. ^[1][4]
