Biography

Jesse J. Dodson was born about 1803, in Tennessee, based on his age in the 1850 Federal Census, Carroll County, Tennessee. It is believed that Jesse J. Dodson is the son of Dr. Jesse J. Dodson and Judah Combs Dodson.

Jesse married Mary (maiden name possibly Kennon) prior to 1833.

Jesse's father, Dr. Jesse J. Dodson, left his last Will & Testament in Hickman County, Kentucky, dated 26th November, 1838, and probated on the 6th of May, 1839. This will left the following bequest to Jesse " . . . Jesse J. Dodson one dollar Also and Jesse J. Dodson to have Ret young mare colt 4 . . ."

Jesse, age 47 born in TN, appears in the 1850 Federal Census in Carroll County, Tennessee, as head of household. Living in the household were Jesse's wife, Mary, age 50, born in NC, son Benj. G., age 17 born in TN, Calvin P., age 15, born in TN, Ann M., age 12, born in TN, and Elizabeth Kennon, age 77, born in NC.

Jesse date and place of death are currently unknown.
