Margaret Helen Daugherty was born on 1 Aug 1833 in Pennsylvania.^[1]

In 1865, she married Patrick Gilligan. ^[2]

In 1870, Margaret, age 36, lived with her husband Patrick Gilligan, age 48, in Chest Township, Clearfield County, Pa. Patrick was a farmer with personal property worth $640. She had four children: Robert, age 5; William, age 4; Anna, age 2; and Edward, age 7 months. Also living with them was William Gilligan, age 26. He worked at cutting logs. He had property worth $2000 and personal property with $590.^[3]

In 1880, Margaret, age 45, lived with her husband, Patrick, age 52, in Chest Township, Clearfield County. Patrick is a farmer. Margaret was born in Pennsylvania and her parents were born in Ireland. Patrick was born in Ireland. They had six children: Robert, age 15; William, age 11; Anna, age 12; Edward, age 10; Mary, age 8; and John J., age 5.^[4]

Margaret died on 21 Jul 1894, likely at home in Chest Township. She was buried in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Morgan Land, Clearfield County, Pa. On her headstone: "His wife."
