FRANKLIN CO HISTORY "SAMUEL H DOUGLASS..IS A NATIVE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK AND A DESCENDANT OF YORK STATE ANCESTRY, HIS PARENTS BOTH HAVING BEEN BORN AND REARED THERE, AND HIS GRANDPARENTS ALSO. HIS FATHER, THOMAS DOUGLASS, WAS A SMALL FARMER IN NEW YORK, AND SPENT ALL HIS YEARS IN THE PEACEFUL PURSUIT OF AGRICULTURE.
LIKELY A CHILD VETERAN OF THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR. THIS ACCORDING TO ADDIE SHIELDS CLINTON CO HISTORIAN.
USED GRAVE STONE TO DETERMINE BIRTH DATE. STONE SHOWS AGE AT 84 YEARS
GRAVE LOCATED FROM MAIN GATE, SECOND ROW IN AND LEFT ABOUT 5 GRAVES.
CEMETARY WELL CARED FOR. ASSOCIATION HAS ABOUT $30,000 BUT ALWAYS NEED RESERVE TO MAKE IMPROVEMENT IN OLD STONES.
THOMAS DOUGLASS FARM LOCATED BETWEEN CEMETERY AND BEEKMANTOWN ON HIGHWAY 22 ON THE EAST SIDE. BARN STILL STANDING IN 1988 BUT DID NOT KNOW WHERE TO FIND FARM WHEN WE WERE THERE. OBTAINED COPIES OF MAP OF TOWNSHIP THAT SHOWS THE LOCATION OF THE FARM. FAMILY MEMBER LIVED ACROSS ROAD FROM THE CEMETERY.
DURING WAR OF 1812, THOMAS WAS DRIVING A TEAM OF OXEN TO THE BATTLE OF PLATTSBURG AND WAS CAPTURED. HE ESCAPED BUT LOST THE TEAM OF OXEN.

Brown .. born 1810..(at about age 22, which would be about 1832) ..bought an interest in the boat "Temperance," with Thomas Douglas; continued two years, sold and run on shares the schooner "Champlain".." CHLOE was born 15 Jul 1776 in , CANAAN, LITCHFIELD, CT. She died 23 Apr 1856 in E BEEKMANTOWN, CLINTON CO, NEW YORK and was buried 24 Apr 1856 in E BEEKMANTOWN, CLINTON CO, NEW YORK.[9]
