Biography

Owen Dorsey Downey was born on 17 Jan 1814 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania to parents Thomas Downey and Anne Henestofiel. He married Elizabeth Powell on 12 May 1838 in Westernport, Maryland. Children: Stephen Wheeler, George Mason, Nancy C, Sarah Francis, William O (Billy), Philip H, Molly, Marah E, Catherine R (Kate), Susan A. He died on 12 Oct 1894 in Laramie, Wyoming.

Obituary: "Newspaper article from The Boomerang of Laramie, Wyoming, 13 Oct 1894: The funeral services were held at the Episcopal Church on Sunday afternoon and the remains sent east to his old home in Maryland, accompanied by his son, Col. S. W. Downey, there to repose beside those of his wife of his youth and the friends who have gone before, til the last trump shall summons him to the resurrection of the Lord."
