Biography
Judith Downing married Washington Haynie on 30 December 1811 in Northumberland County, Virginia. [1]
Research Notes
According to the marriage bond posted by Washington Haynie for his upcoming marriage to Judith Downing, she was a widow. [2] Several places call her Judith Ball Downing. Her LNAB could be "Ball."
Jude Ball, daughter, was mentioned in the will of George Ball of Northumberland County Virginia, dated 5 September 1790. [3] Additional bequests were made to daughters, Hannah and Luce, and mention was made if they should die, their portion to go to his brothers and sisters (not Jude or his widow, Elizabeth). Also, Luce was given additional land that was "heir'd of Mother to her" which sounds like Hannah and Luce were not the daughters of the widow, Elizabeth, but from a previous wife. Judith was probably the daughter of Elizabeth, the second wife, and would stand to inherit her portion upon her passing.
