Pvt Drake was living with his parents in the Genesee census 1840, but living with his older brother, Homer, in Wisconsin 1850 when Jesamine's family was in Iowa. Jesamine and Mary moved to Wisconsin by 1860 and George was living with them at the time of enlistment.
Note:At the end of the war, the hospital closed. Senator William Sprague and a real-estate investor relative purchased the land; the buildings were either sold and moved or torn down. Most of the 308 remains in the cemetery were removed to the Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
Portsmouth Grove Hospital was a Union hospital that also held Confederate prisoners. Pvt Drake must have been released from the Confederate prison, and died after being transferred to the Union hospital.
