Abijah Drinkwater
is the 5th generation of this surname found in early America.

Abijah - the oldest of five sons - was born in 1811, the son of Edward Drinkwater and Elizabeth Locke. As with many Drinkwater males, Abijah was a seaman. No record found for marriage or children.

1836, Aug 10 - Abijah crewed aboard the Brig Pamelia of Salem, Master Nathan Smith, bound for Lago de Cuba. Abijah, age 25, 5'9-1/2"

1850 - Abijah, a 39-year-old sailor, lived with his mother and two brothers in Webster, Maine.

1860 - Abijah, age 47, farm labor, lived with his brother, Jacob in Webster, Androscoggin, Maine.
