Edward had 5 children. Edward lived in Midland On. and in the 1901 census he was living in Collingwood, a centre for Grain handling and shipping. Edward listed his occupation as a sailor, and his wife and children are not with him. The 1911 census found Edward as a lodger in Sault. St. Marie On. There were domestic issues and the family was not together.

Medonte is a township between Orillia and Barrie on the north west shore of Lake Simcoe. In 1994 it merged with the neighbouring township of Oro and is now known as Oro-Medonte. Midland and the Georgian Bay area of Lake Huron are all located within this area.
