"Jacques Du Gue' married first Judith Soumin, second Elizabeth DuPuy. He escaped to England by April 17,1685 from Be'sance ln Berri, France with his second wife, Elizabeth Dupuy and children. That date was recorded for purchase of 500 acres in Carolina. ( Collection of SC Historical Society Vol 1. page 114) Same year took a grant of land on Newtown Creek.(Motte Alston notes for SC Historical Society, DuGue' , page 26)
