4 JEAN ROME DUNCAN (Roma) was born in 1903 or 1904 (I do not know the date or place). She trained as a schoolteacher and spent some years housekeeping for JOHN GARROW DUNCAN after the death of KATHARINE SUDDING REID. At the start of World War II SYBIL MARY ANDERSON DUNCAN/JOHN SHERWIN SMITH/GARROW WOOD SMITH (see below) were evacuated to Kirkmichael Manse; I remember JEAN ROME DUNCAN being running the household. SYBIL MARY ANDERSON DUNCAN/JOHN SHERWIN SMITH/GARROW WOOD SMITH returned to Essex in early summer 1940 and stayed there all through the blitz.
JEAN ROME DUNCAN married Peter Irvine during WWII (I do not know the date or place). PI was a postman, and I think they lived first in Dundee, and later in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire. When PI retired (during the 1950's, I think), JEAN ROME DUNCAN/PI moved to Colwall. JEAN ROME DUNCAN died after a long history of heart trouble in 1963 or 1964 and PI in 1968 (I do not know the dates or places).
