Biography

Ellen (Dunn) Carlson was born in Lancashire, England.

Sarah was born in 1871. She was the daughter of Joseph Dunn and Elizabeth Griffiths ^[1] and was baptised at St Timothy's Church, Liverpool, on 25th January 1871 ^[2].

In 1881 she was living with her parents in Roscoe Street, Everton, Liverpool ^[3].

In 1891 she was living with her parents and 6 siblings in two rooms in Canterbury Street, Liverpool ^[4].

She married Robert Carlson in 1893 ^[5] and in 1901 they were living in 4 rooms in Amelia Street, Everton, Liverpool, with 3 children ^[6].

In 1911 she was living in Towson Street, Everton, Liverpool, with her husband Robert and 7 children. She had had 8 children, of whom one had died ^[7].

At the outbreak of WW2 in 1939 she was living with her husband Robert in Carisbrooke Road , Everton, Liverpool, in a large house shared with several other family members ^[8].

She passed away in early 1943, and was buried in Anfield Cemetery on 15th January ^{[9] [10]}.

Note that Sarah Ellen was born shortly after the death of her slightly older sibling Sarah Ann. This could explain why she is known only as Ellen in early documentation, and was known by that name to family members.
