Beverly W Durden was born about 1834 in Muscogee, Georgia, his father, Asa R Durden Sr and his mother, Nancy Ann Marion Ransom. He married Augusta Louisa "Lucretia" Brown on September 10, 1858, in Pike, Alabama. Beverly enlisted at Greenville on 15 Mar 1862 in 39th Regiment, Alabama Infantry Company A and was mustered at Opelika on 15 May 1862. Beverly was in many battles. He was captured by Major Gen WT Sherman's 15th Army near Atlanta, Georgia on 22 Jul 1864 and forwarded on 24 Jul to Nashville TN where he was then forwarded to the military prison at Louisville KY. Louisville processed him in on 30 Jul 1864 and then transferred him to Camp Chase. He died from pneumonia as a POW on 8 Feb 1865 at Camp Chase, Columbus, Franklin, Ohio and buried in Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.
