Biography

Findagrave.com shows his parents were Alexander Andrew Dye, Jr.[Dye-664] and Catharine Riffle, however the post for his father shows his mother was Alexander's first wife Jane Guthrie[Guthrie-2305]. POB indefinite as his 1850 census showed OH, but 1860 showed PA.

Date and place of death also indefinite: Findagrave.com post shows he died 1850, but he was present for the 1860 census, and Veteran's Administration records show he applied for a pension from his son Albert's service in the Civil War, on 17 Sep 1870, so it is presumed he survived until then. His wife Juliette had made the same application one year earlier, but it is unknown if she was alive in 1870 as well. No 1870 census found for the family. Youngest son John Charles would have been about 13.

Nine children. Three daughters and one son did not survive them.
