"The date, Oct. 28, was the day Andrew "Andy" Kutter and Lorena Eales
were married in 1919 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, in Richmond, Indiana.
Looking back over the years,
Andy said, choking back a few tears:
"Our marriage has been a little above the average for happiness.
We've had a truly happy married life"
Lorena said her husband had been "a good worker and good provider" They had their share of arguments, both agreed.
"The fun of it is making up. "Lorena said, unable to hide the glimmer in he eye.
The couple met while both worked at the NATCO[1] during World War I, when women were called on to hold down the factory jobs. Lorena said her Father did not agree at all with her working there. And it wasn't love at first sight for Lorena, Andy said, laughing. He said it was "like trying to tame a rattlesnake" to get her to fall in love with him. But Lorena's Mother liked him. :"Lorena would kick me out the front door and her mother would let me in the back," he said laughing."[2]
