Biography

Will of William Easely(sic) at his mansion in the presence of Isaac Clement, John Ward Jr and David Hunt tells me he was living in the very northeast corner of Pittsylvania area near Straightstone or Level Run which was where Thomas Lester, father of Sarah Ann Lester.

“This William EASLEY m. 21 February 1785, Pittsylvania Co., VA. Sarah Ann [Sally] LESTER, b. 1766. MD --d. after 1850, prob. Russell Co., KY., probably dau. of Thomas LESTER, SR.. Securities for the marriage were Blanks MOODY and I.L. BAKER.

William EASLEY also appointed his stepfather Blanks MOODY as executor of his nuncupative will, which was probated 20 April 1795, Pittsylvania Co., VA. Witnesses were Isaac CLEMENTS, John WARD, and David HUNT.” “[1] 16 March 1793. Between Daniel LESTER of the Co. of Pittsylvania and William EASLEY of same. For 10 lbs., 28 1/3 acres, part of the land charged to Thomas LESTER dec’d. Wit[nesses]: Nathan GLASS, Thomas DAVIZE, D. HUNT.”

[2] Testamentary, Words spoken by William EASLEY in his last Sickness at his Mantion House, in Presents of Isaac CLEMENTS, John WARD, and David HUNT, Viz.,

He directed that his whole estate should remain with his wife Sarah[LESTER] EASLEY, for the use of supporting his Children as long as she remained his Widow, or during life and after her marriage or death the estate to be equally divided Shear and Shear a like, and

Blanks MOODY is appointed his Executor, Committed to Writing the 18th. February 1795. Teste: Isaac CLEMENT, D. HUNT, John WARD, JR. Probate 20 April 1795.”
