Vera Mae Eason was born 29 Nov 1900 to Sidney Seaborn Eason and his second wife Ellen Clementine (Broome) Eason. She grew up in Miller County, Arkansas, where she was enumerated with her family on their farm at Sulphur in the 1910 census.
She and Macon Menton Martin, who grew up on a neighboring farm, were married 2 December 1914 in Miller County, Arkansas. Because of her age, her father had to issue a letter giving the couple permission to marry. They would go on to have three daughters together.
They were living in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1917, but had moved back to farm in Miller County by the time the 1920 census was taken.
After Macon died in 1966, Vera remained in Arkansas near her youngest daughters, LaVern and LaDell, for many years. In the late 1970s, she moved to Morton, Cochran County, Texas, to be near her oldest daughter Jessie.
After a period of declining health, Vera died 8 Apr 1979 while hospitalized in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas. She is buried with her husband in Mount Zion Cemetery at Doddridge, Miller County, Arkansas.
