Cynthia was born about 1829 in Rhode Island.
She was the (presumed) daughter of Caroline and Alexander Easton, and the (presumed) sister of Civil War soldier James H. Easton of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the first regiment in the United States to enlist men of color during that war.
She's listed after the the children of Caroline and Alexander in the 1860 census in a way that makes me think she might've been a sister, cousin or daughter-in-law, something besides a daughter. James is then listed after her, like she may have been his mother. She would've been about 15 when she had him if she was. For now, assuming she's the daughter of Caroline and Alexander, and that James is her brother rather than her son.
